BAMBOO BOAT AN ALTERNATIVE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION

BAMBOOS DESIGN - The Bamboo Boat project aims to develop an alternative bio-composite from bamboo, which can be used in sailboat construction.

After 3 months of work, from cutting bamboos to coating the boat, we tried the prototype on a lake in Oriental Java. The objective is to investigate the possibility of using bamboo in boat construction. Though it is floating, many improvements and tests remain for 2014.

The High Touch crew. With more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing bamboo products, High Touch generously helped us to build the boat in Kediri Indonesia

Only bamboo and glue (epoxy) are used to make the hull an the outriggers, The jukung design is typical from Bali and is the origin of multihulls in South East Asia and Oceania.
